Required Documents

Basic documents needed for using most hospitals, businesses, etc. **Places that usually provide medical care to refugees or undocumented foreigners require a passport or other forms of identification not to verify specific qualifications but for identity verification purposes. Generally, it is sufficient to bring any one of the documents listed below.

1. Passport

2. Alien Registration Card

What is an Alien Registration Card?

It is an official identity document issued to foreigners who have registered in accordance with Article 31 of the Immigration Act. According to Article 88-2 of the same act, it has the same effect as a resident registration certificate.

Registration Eligibility

Foreigners intending to stay in South Korea for more than 90 days from the day of entry (registration must be done within 90 days of entry).

Application Method

Make a reservation on the Hi Korea website(https://www.hikorea.go.kr/resv/ResvIntroR.pt) and then apply in person at the immigration office(https://www.hikorea.go.kr/gvrnsrch/GvrnSrchPageR.pt) responsible for your place of residence.

Required Documents

Passport, proof of residence, one passport-sized photo, and documents required according to the type of residency qualification (refer to the attachment).

3. Receipt of Refugee Status Application

What is a Receipt of Refugee Status Application?

Upon completing a refugee recognition application, applicants can receive a " Receipt of Refugee Status Application " from the responsible officer. The status of the applicant as a refugee claimant is acknowledged from the moment the receipt is issued.
