Types of Benefits
(1) Livelihood Benefit
•
Contents of the benefit: clothes ∙ food and fuel expenses, and payment of money and goods necessary for other daily life.
•
Benefit: Amount which is, the household income recognition amount deducted from the standard for payment of livelihood benefits. (30% of the standard median income)
※ Livelihood benefit = The standard for payment of livelihood benefits (30% of the standard median income) – Recognized income.

(2) Housing Benefit
•
Abolition of the support obligor standard
•
Contents of the benefit: Rent needed for housing stability, and repair maintenance costs are paid in consideration of residence, residential type, residential scale, and more.
•
Benefit : For rental households, based on the Recipient’s actual rent, are differentially paid according to rents based on regions, number of household members, and recognized income, For households who own homes, classify repair range into light repair, medium repair, and great repair depending on the level of the house deterioration and differentially paid repair maintenance costs according to the Recipient’s recognized income.

Applicant Eligibility: Household members, relatives, and other associates of the recipient can apply for the housing allowance.
**Relatives and associates of the recipient must bring a power of attorney.
•
How to Apply: Current recipients of livelihood or medical assistance don't need a separate application for housing allowance. Only those who apply for housing allowance for the first time should submit an application.
•
Application Location: Visit the local administrative welfare center in your residence area for personal registration, or apply online at the Welfare Portal (www.bokjiro.go.kr).
Required documents for applying for housing benefit
•
Social Security benefits supply(alter) application form. (provided in the administrative welfare center)
•
Income and property declaration (provided in the administrative welfare center)
•
Consent form to provide financial information, etc. (provided in the administrative welfare center)
•
Rental (Sublease) contract, confirmation of loan of use.
•
Copy of bankbook and ID. (Identification card)
※ Additional documents such as confirmation of employment wages, disability register card, and, expulsion certified copy, etc. can be requested. (Certificate of removal enrollment certified copy)
Notes
※ Must bring the power of attorney when requesting proxy, a copy of the ID of the qualified recipient, and the ID of the agent.
※ When submitting a confirmation of loan of use, payment of wage could be limited except for some households.
**Confirmation of loan of use: Documents certifying the situation of renting free of charge, for example) Documents needed when having a household in one’s name, or living free of charge at the house of a relative or acquaintance other than living under a lease contract.
(3) Educational Benefit: under the Ministry of Education
•
Doesn’t apply the standard of the support obligor.
•
Contents of the benefit: Admission fee and school tuition, cost of textbook, cost of an auxiliary textbook, cost of school supplies, etc.

(4) Childbirth Benefit
•
Among Recipients who receive benefits from at least one of the Livelihood benefits, housing benefits, and medical benefits, it is paid to National Basic Livelihood Act recipients who had a premature birth or need action and protection before and after the delivery.
•
Benefit: 700,000won per Newborn baby (1,400,000won when twins are born) is given in cash.
(5) Funeral Benefit
•
When the recipient is dead, 800,000won per the dead is paid in cash.
•
But, when the expense cannot be paid or it is deemed inappropriate to pay the expenses, the goods can be provided.
